The Uptime Institute has awarded the Tier III Certification of Design Documents to ST Telemedia (STT) Global Data Centers Thailand's first hyperscale data center in Thailand.

The certification demonstrates that STT's Bangkok 1 data center meets performance and reliability requirements for around-the-clock operation, 24x7.

The first phase of the Bangkok 1 data center includes 30,000 square metres of floor space and an IT load of 20 megawatts.

According to ST Telemedia Global Data Centers, the Tier III Certification of Design Documents “validates the design for functionality and capacity of a data center infrastructure based on a set of criteria including mechanical, electrical, structural and site elements aspects.

Uptime Institute chief technical officer Christopher Brown congratulates ST Telemedia Global Data Centers for its achievement.

“This award illustrates that the STT Bangkok 1 data center is designed to the highest standard, and is the first step towards Tier Certification of Constructed Facility once construction is completed. Attaining the next step to Tier III Certification of Constructed Facility will demonstrate that STT Bangkok 1 can efficiently operate without any shutdowns, ensuring the maximum level of safety and security to customers.

ST Telemedia Global Data Centers CEO Supparat Singhara Na Ayutthaya says, “We aim to redefine the status quo of Thailand's digital landscape with Bangkok's first multiple carrier-neutral hyperscale data center campus, STT Bangkok 1, of which its design excellence has been certified by the Uptime Institute Tier III Certification.”

“In addition, the Certification attests that planned maintenance on our data center infrastructure can be performed without causing downtime. By adhering to the Uptime Institute standard, customers can be assured that our data center is developed to the highest specifications. We aim to uplift Thailand's digital infrastructure standards.

The Bangkok 1 data center is expected to be complete in early 2021 and will offer a total capacity of 40 megawatts across 60,000 square metres of floor area.

The Bangkok 1 data center is a joint partnership between  Frasers Property (Thailand) Public Company Limited (FPT), a leading integrated real estate platform in Thailand and ST Telemedia Global Data Centers.
