Photo gallery: The world's 'most beautiful' data centre

31 Jan 2019

Data centres don’t usually fall into the ‘beautiful’ category, but it’s a struggle to find words that can better describe the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC).

The supercomputer (MareNostrum) is hosted within a giant glass box placed in the heart of a stunning former chapel named Torre Girona.

Originally established in 2005, the centre has undergone multiple upgrades amid explosive growth and is now the world’s 13th most powerful supercomputer with a peak performance of 13.7 petaflops.

Lenovo recently held a press event in Barcelona, flying in media representatives from all over Europe to benefit from a content-packed event involving an overview of the company's current achievements and views for the future. And of course, a tour of the beautiful supercomputer.

Check out the photos below.
