Google Cloud and HCL strengthen partnership, bolster e-commerce CX
HCL’s software offerings will soon be coming to Google Cloud as part of an expansion of the partnership between the two companies, it was announced today.
Google Cloud will now be the preferred cloud platform for HCL Commerce, providing a global edge and expanded infrastructure to power businesses’ e-commerce strategies.
Businesses will be able to leverage Google’s reach combined with HCL’s commerce platform, allowing for development of better, data-driven customer experiences, according to the two companies.
“The collaboration between Google Cloud and HCL Commerce is helping customers rapidly execute their digital transformation strategy that is rooted in the new normal,” says HCL corporate vice president and head of software Darren Oberst.
“With the support of our global implementation partner ecosystem, we can now deliver a proven, comprehensive commerce solution across all industries, handling the challenges of today and in the future.”
HCL has also made known its intention to leverage Anthos under this partnership, hoping to enable multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud deployments of HCL Commerce.
“The HCL Google Cloud Business Unit is enabling product collaboration across HCL Software and Google Cloud,” says HCL chief technology officer and coprorate vice president Kalyan Kumar.
“The launch of HCL Commerce on Google Cloud is the first among a number of planned joint offerings built around application modernisation, data centre and database value unlock.”
The cloud giant says it relishes the opportunity to work with HCL.

The two companies’ strengthened partnership comes as part of a larger trend, with Google Cloud announcing less than a month ago a similar expansion to its relationship with Dell.
As part of that announcement, the two companies also launched a new hybrid cloud storage system, with the capability of moving as much as 50 petabytes of high-performance workloads.
The hybrid cloud infrastructure allows for movement of demanding workloads in a single filesystem between on-premises Dell filesystems and Google Cloud.
These workloads, which typically require high throughput and low latency file storage, are used by the likes of video streaming platforms which are increasingly allowing for 4K video streaming – which can now leverage Google Cloud and Dell’s storage system.
